Mr. Mayle,
Eastern 'B' Department.
COLONIAL UNIVERSITY GRANTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
C. D. & W. HIGHER EDUCATION ALLOCATION.
The Colonial University Grants Advisory Committee
at its next meeting, on 10th October, will be considering
the general allocation of the £62 million for higher
education. The Chairman has asked for the advice of the
Inter-University Council on the academic aspects of this
matter and has asked that his committee should be informed
by the Colonial Office of any political factors that ought
to be taken into account in arriving at a general allocation.
Attached is a memorandum from the Inter-University
Council to the Colonial University Grants Advisory Committee
on this subject. It would be convenient if the territorial
departments could send to me before Friday, 3rd October any
comments on the provisional allocation suggested by the Inter- University Council, or on any other aspects of the general distribution of the higher education allocation to which they
wish the attention of the Colonial University Grants Advisory
Committee to be drawn.
